The Natural Reserve Prutul de Jos is a protected area located in the lower Prut River, including Beleu Lake and a network of ponds that, on the whole, form a unique ecosystem. The vegetation, on most of the territory of the reserve, is represented by reed beds, willows, and a rich carpet of aquatic plants, flooding meadows such as: rush, lily of the valley, water lily. In total, there are 193 plant species. On the territory of the reserve there are also rare mammalian species: otter, stoat and European mink. Flocks of pelicans can be seen in this area at the end of May.
